HRH Princess Lalla Meryem Chairs in Rabat Inauguration Ceremony of Diplomatic Circle International Charity Bazaar

07 December 2019 Printable Version
Rabat - Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem chaired, Saturday at the Mohammed V national Theatre in Rabat, the inauguration ceremony of the international charity bazaar of the diplomatic Circle, held under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

After cutting the symbolic ribbon announcing the opening of the bazaar, Her Royal Highness followed explanations on the projects carried out by the diplomatic Circle in the cultural and social sectors, and the associations supported by the Circle in several areas.

Afterwards, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem visited the different stands of the international charity bazaar where a wide variety of hand-made and local products from several countries representing the different continents are showcased.

Speaking on this occasion, chairwoman of the diplomatic Circle, spouse of Sweden's ambassador in Rabat, Danielle Kebbon, said the bazaar is an opportunity to initiate a cultural exchange as well as recognition of the hospitality displayed by the Kingdom.

The 30th edition of the Charity Bazaar is also an opportunity to express friendship and provide help for women and children, she added, while reviewing the achievements of the previous year, marked by support provided to 14 associations working in the field of women and children with the aim of reducing disparities.

The theme of the coming year will be focused on women's empowerment, Ms. Kebbon pointed out.

At the end of the ceremony, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem posed for a souvenir photo.

Upon her arrival at the Mohammed V national Theatre, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem reviewed a detachment of the municipal guard that made the honors, and was notably greeted by Minister Delegate in charge of Moroccan Expatriates, Nezha El Ouafi, and Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, governor of the prefecture of Rabat, Mohamed Yacoubi.

The charity bazaar is an annual event organized by the diplomatic Circle in Morocco to celebrate friendship and solidarity. It is also aimed at supporting Moroccan NGOs working in the fields of education, health and development of women in rural areas.

The Rabat diplomatic Circle brings together the spouses of heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations accredited to Morocco.

More than 40 countries representing Africa, America, Asia, Europe and the Middle-East take part in this edition through their embassies in Rabat.
