  • Politics : Saudi Arabia Commends Morocco's Efforts to Bring Libyan Dialogue to Successful Conclusion

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement by the "6+6" joint commission set up by the Libyan House of Representatives and High Council of State, that its members had reached a compromise on the laws governing Libya's presidential and parliamentary elections, following their meetings in Bouznika on June 6-7.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed "Saudi Arabia's hope that the Libyan parties will officially sign the electoral laws, as an important step towards ending the crisis and strengthening security and stability, and that Libya will play an active and influential role in its regional and international environment, in the service of the brotherly Libyan people's aspirations for development and prosperity."

On Tuesday, the "6+6" joint commission announced that, after two weeks of meetings in Morocco, its members had reached a compromise on the laws governing the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for the end of the year.

The Bouznika meeting is a continuation of the series of meetings hosted by the Kingdom, bringing together the various Libyan parties with a view to deepening dialogue on the ways and means of resolving the crisis in the country, following an approach that provides the right space for dialogue and constructive consultation.

  • Politics : Moroccan Delegation Takes Part in 5th Arab Parliament Session

Morocco was represented at the meeting by Mohamed Bakouri, Chairman of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group in the House of Councillors, who is also a member of the parliamentary section of the Arab Parliament and Chairman of the Arab Food Security Commission.

The Moroccan delegation also included Khadija Hajoubi of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Vice-Chairperson of Social, Educational, Cultural, Women's and Youth Affairs at the Arab Parliament, and Mohamed Ayach (RNI), member of the Legislative, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Commission.

During the session, Arab Parliament President Adel Al Asoomi noted that the international community should assume its responsibilities for Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, provide international protection for Palestinians and work to guarantee their rights, including the establishment of a Palestinian state on all Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, with Al-Quds as its capital.

He also called on Arab countries to play a greater role in resolving the Sudan crisis, praising efforts to maintain the truce in Yemen.

This truce paves the way for a permanent ceasefire and would enable a definitive resolution to be reached, stressed Adel Al Asoomi, welcoming the UN's announcement of the launch of the Safer oil tanker unloading operation.

  • World : French Pundit Says 'polisario' Is 'Criminal', 'Dangerous' Organization for Regional Security

"The +polisario+ is still involved in various forms of trafficking in the desert, thus contributing to destabilizing the Saharan region", points out the political scientist.

Opponents tortured, child soldiers paraded, basic rights trampled underfoot: the list of misdeeds committed by +polisario+ against the inhabitants of the Tindouf camps is long, as NGOs regularly testify before the 4th Committee of the United Nations in New York, he said in this article published online on the website of the French monthly, under the title "Front polisario: cinquante ans de crimes et de supercheries" ("Polisario Front: fifty years of crimes and deceptions").

According to the expert, this "paramilitary structure, tainted by corruption, retains its power to cause harm thanks to Algeria's support," arguing that no-one can dispute Algeria's "constant" support for the separatist movement, this "relic of the Cold War".

He added that the separatists' misappropriation of humanitarian aid, mainly from Europe, "has been confirmed by reports from the European Union and the UN," while Algerian financial aid enables the "polisario" dignitaries to ensure a substantial lifestyle.

Highlighting the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom as a definitive solution to the Moroccan Sahara question, the French expert highlighted the support this initiative has steadily grown, notably from the United States.

  • Culture : Morocco, Under HM the King's Leadership, Sees Exceptional Moment in Society’s Diversity, Pluralism - Azoulay

Speaking at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in the large conference hall, Azoulay welcomed the "unprecedented opportunity, but so rich in meaning, that he was given today to speak before ICESCO."

"What other country than my country, Morocco, could have embodied as we do together this morning, this lucid, determined and uninhibited message of what diversity, citizenship and pluralism can be and can say in the land of Islam," emphasized HM the King's Advisor, who was the guest of the "Interviews of the Future" initiative, organized by ICESCO's Center for Strategic Prospective.

Azoulay added: "This is neither an exercise in protocol nor a passing comment," highlighting "the exceptional aggiornamento that Morocco is undergoing, which confirms the pioneering and visionary nature of the strategic choices and reforms implemented by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, reforms that have consecrated Morocco's exemplarity within a Community of Nations in search of benchmarks, and which has now taken the right measure of this Moroccan reality that has imposed itself on all".

In conclusion, HM the King's advisor emphasized that this Moroccan reality is now supported and embodied by as many people as possible, recalling "the ever-wider, more committed, more militant and more voluntarist consensus of Moroccan civil society, which listens to all narratives and proudly embraces this dynamic for more and better in a Morocco that has become the international benchmark for the art of all possibilities".

For his part, ICESCO Director General Salim Al Malik noted that the conference aims to promote ideas with transformative potential to shape our common future.

"Through engaging conversations and profound exchanges, we navigate a realm teeming with boundless possibilities, unveiling audacious concepts that possess the capacity to redefine the world that awaits us", Al Malik emphasized.

The purpose, he added, shall be "to delve into subjects that hold paramount significance, in an era defined by relentless change, marked by shifting economic paradigms, complex societal challenges, and above all unprecedented advancements in technology."

Through this conference, "we shall venture beyond the confines of conventional wisdom, harnessing the power of collective intellect to unearth profound insights that shall illuminate our path toward brighter futures," concluded Al Malik.

  • Politics : FM Expresses Morocco's Total Solidarity with Burkina Faso in its Efforts to Combat Extremism and Terrorism

"Morocco firmly condemns the cowardly attacks that have targeted Burkina Faso, a brotherly country, and which are contrary to the spirit of tolerance and coexistence that has always marked this country", said Bourita at a joint press briefing with his Burkinabe counterpart, Olivia Ragnaghnewendé Rouamba, at the end of the 4th session of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Joint Commission.

He pointed out that the situation in Burkina Faso is closely linked to the instability in the Sahel and Sahara region, where armed and terrorist groups have found fertile ground for their proliferation, noting that over 60% of the world's terrorist operations take place in sub-Saharan Africa.

The number of victims of terrorist operations in this region exceeds that recorded in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, he lamented.

"Today, there are at least 12 terrorist groups operating in the Sahel and Sahara region, colluding with 19 separatist groups that threaten the territorial integrity of African countries," he stressed, noting that the scourge of terrorist group infiltration into Africa is a general phenomenon.

Burkina Faso, which is in the firing line, needs support and backing, given that the fight against terrorism in this country will have an impact on the entire Sahel and West Africa region, he added.

The Kingdom, which has made the fight against extremism and terrorism an absolute priority, continues to call on the international community to pay particular attention to this scourge, by supporting the measures and actions taken by African countries faced with this phenomenon, according to a holistic and innovative approach combining humanitarian action, development and peacebuilding, with a view to putting an end to the phenomenon of terrorism and violent extremism, he underlined.

Bourita affirmed that Morocco is following with interest the development of the transition process in Burkina Faso, and has confidence in the ability of the country's leaders to deal with all developments in the country with wisdom and with the supreme national interest in mind, stressing that the measures taken in recent months by president Ibrahim Traoré are important for strengthening stability and relaunching the development process in this brotherly country.

After stressing that the transition process is on the right track, Bourita noted that Morocco still believes that elections are not an end in themselves, but are held with a view to achieving stability, noting that "organizing elections in the absence of security and continuing attacks makes no sense".

In this context, he praised the wisdom shown by the Burkina Faso authorities, which is a source of satisfaction for Morocco, noting that the Kingdom once again expresses its full solidarity with Burkina Faso at this stage.

"Working to strengthen state structures and interact with humanitarian needs demonstrates the existence of a sincere will to get Burkina Faso out of this difficult situation", he added, underscoring Morocco's readiness to support the development program launched by H.E. president Ibrahim Traoré, through support and the exchange of expertise, with the aim of achieving the desired results.

Burkina Faso has shown remarkable steadfastness and stability in this particular context, added Bourita, expressing confidence that this country, with its leadership, its capabilities, the determination of its people and the support of its friends, is in a position to overcome the difficulties it faces during this particular period.

The 4th session of the Morocco-Burkina Faso joint cooperation Commission kicked off in Dakhla, under the co-presidency of Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Burkina Faso counterpart, Olivia Ragnaghnèwendé Rouamba.

This session provided an opportunity to explore new horizons for consolidating cooperation relations between Morocco and Burkina Faso, and to build fruitful partnerships in a wide range of fields, in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Heads of State of the two countries, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency president Ibrahim Traoré.

The session, attended by the ambassador, director general of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) and representatives of several departments, culminated in the signing of 12 agreements covering several areas of bilateral cooperation.
