"My keenness to improve social conditions and tackle economic challenges is second only to my determination to preserve and develop our country's strategic resources, particularly water," HM the King said, adding that the latter plays a fundamental role in development and stability.

The national water plan should address the various issues relating to water resources for the next 30 years, HM the King said, drawing on Quranic verse: "We made from water every living thing."

Moreover, the government, along with the institutions concerned, are called upon to take urgent measures and muster all the means required to deal with emergencies that arise from a lack of access to drinking water and to water for irrigation and livestock, especially during the summer, the sovereign underlined.

"To this end, I have always stressed the need to maintain the policy of building dams – a sector in which Morocco is a pioneer," HM the King noted, recalling that he has keenly sought to continue with that policy. "We have managed to build thirty dams of various sizes in the country during the last 18 years," His Majesty said.
