These officials, working in the Directorate of Public Safety and the Directorate of Equipment and Budget, were suspended as part of audit operations and investigation conducted by a commission of the General Inspectorate of National Security to strengthen governance and transparency in professional procedures, said the DGSN Thursday in a statement, adding that the commission has noted breaches of duty and personal excesses that the persons concerned have committed in the exercise of the duties and responsibilities devolved upon them.
The Director General of National Police has instructed the services of the Inspectorate General to continue and complete the audit procedures to cover all functions and activities performed by the suspended officials throughout the exercise of their duties, so as to detect any other alleged overruns or failures, and thus ensure the establishment of the principles of good governance and transparency systems, the statement added.
As part of the implementation of the constitutional provisions enacting the correlation between responsibility and accountability, the National Brigade of the Judicial Police was responsible for conducting the necessary investigation and research on the punitive aspect of this case, under the supervision of the competent Prosecutor's Office, in order to define the probable legal excesses and to establish the responsibilities according to the results of the judicial investigation.
