The telecommunications sector is benefiting from the growth of e-commerce, telecommuting and distance learning, driven by the continuing Covid-19 crisis, explained the DEPF in its September 2021 business note.
The overall telephony customer base grew by 8.2% at the end of June 2021, following a 1% increase a year earlier, driven by an 8.2% increase in the number of mobile subscribers (after 0.7% the previous year) to 49.2 million and an 8.3% increase in the number of landline subscribers to 2.4 million, the DEPF said.
For its part, the Internet customer base has increased by 15.1% (after +15.4% a year earlier) to 31.3 million subscribers, added the same source.
