Morocco Records 154 New COVID-19 Cases over Past 24 Hours

Rabat - Morocco recorded 154 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Friday, adding that 164 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the same period of time.

A total of 24,408,900 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and the number of fully vaccinated people (1st and 2nd doses) has reached 22,626,879 the ministry pointed out in its daily COVID-19 bulletin, adding that 1,639,107 people have received the third dose of the vaccine.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak of the virus stands at 949,532 while recoveries rise to 931,712, i.e. a recovery rate of 98.1%.

The new COVID-19 cases were reported in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (63), Casablanca-Settat (61), Marrakech-Safi (14), Souss-Massa (5), Eastern Region (2), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (2), Draa-Tafilalet (2), Fez-Meknes (2), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (1) and Guelmim- Oued Noun (1).

As for coronavirus-related fatalities, they rose to 14,773 (fatality rate of 1.6%) with three cases reported over the past 24 hours in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Souss-Massa and Beni Mellal-Khénifra.

The number of active cases stands at 3,047, including 106 people in a critical or severe condition, the ministry said.
