Morocco's Ambassador and Permanent Representative Abdelouahab Bellouki, leads the Moroccan delegation composed of representatives of departments involved in the implementation of the Convention, which is a key step for the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
During the meeting, a number of points have been taken into consideration, says a statement released by the Embassy of Morocco in The Hague. These issues are related to the monitoring of the implementation of the Convention's provisions and the completion of the destruction process of declared chemical weapons stockpiles.
In addition, the Organization's Director General, Fernando Arias, was re-elected during this conference.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Executive Council of the OPCW, Bellouki presented to the Conference a report on the activities carried out by the Council during the year 2021, as well as a report on the work of the OPCW Committee for Relations with the Host Country.
In the general debate, the Permanent Representative of Morocco reiterated the Kingdom's principled position and strong commitment to the objectives of disarmament, non-proliferation and the fight against weapons of mass destruction, while reaffirming unwavering support to the objectives of the Convention.
