At the opening of the 11th Congress of ASSECAA, organized by the House of Advisors under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Mayara stressed that these are "fundamental approaches to preserve the unity, stability and development of our countries in the face of new challenges facing the world".
He noted that the transformation of the global economic system is driven by the radical change in the balance of economic, demographic, technological and security forces that the world is experiencing.
He said, in this context, that the challenges facing Africa and the Arab world have been exacerbated by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has caused the African continent to contract growth of 2.1% in 2020 and an increase in the debt ratio of 10 points of GDP.
Mayara considered that the global trend of vaccination is a great hope to ensure economic and social recovery, which is reflected in the positive indicators of the world economy during the year 2021, maintaining that "the recovery and economic and social rehabilitation post-pandemic" are the salient features that characterize the common environment of Africa and the Arab world.
He said that the world is entering a phase of recovery thanks to the enormous efforts made to ensure collective immunity through vaccines against Covid, in addition to the contribution of scientific research that has led to a better understanding of the new coronavirus and its mutants, thus promoting the development of treatment protocols and more effective drugs.
On this occasion, the president of ASSECAA reiterated the marks of his esteem and gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, "who had launched the manufacture of vaccines in the Kingdom of Morocco to achieve vaccine sovereignty and respond to the risks of scarcity of vaccines, as well as the danger of the emergence of new epidemics," in order to achieve self-sufficiency in drugs and vaccines.
Mayara also called for exploring ways to seriously engage in the optimal activation of the innovative initiative launched by His Majesty the King, to establish an operational framework to accompany African countries in the various stages of their management of the pandemic, stressing that this framework provides an opportunity to share experiences and best practices to cope with the health, economic and social impact of the pandemic.
