These projects provide for building the second line of Casablanca tramway and extending the first line, developing the city road network, building a tunnel on the national road RN1 in direction of Al jadida and two bypass roads.
The projects reflect the constant will of HM the King to provide Morocco’s economic capital with modern infrastructure in line with international standards in order to give a sustainable impetus to the city’s renewal and meet the legitimate aspirations of its population.
The expansion of Casablanca tramway network, which is worth MAD 4.28 billion, aims to gradually reach 110 km-long network by 2022.
As for the development of the city's road network, it will cost MAD 3.17 billion and will be achieved by 2020. This project aims to promote road security, improve the city’s attractiveness and protect the environment.
The bypass roads and the tunnel aim notably to find solutions to traffic jam at the south-eastern gate of Casablanca, guarantee the continuity of the Rabat-El Jadida and Casablanca-Mohammed V International Airport road, and establish direct access to the Casablanca Finance City from the airport.
These projects are part of the 2015-2020 Casablanca Strategic Development Plan which includes a wide range of integrated projects, aimed at improving the living conditions of Casablanca population, preserve its identity, protect the environment, and strengthen its position as an international economic hub.
