Carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, this project, worth 12.5 million dirhams, testifies to the importance of human development and environment protection for HM the King and his conviction that sustainable development is a shared responsibility.
First of its kind in the Kingdom, this facility seeks to back up leading program "Tangiers Metropolis" via population's human development based on awareness-raising, education and training for kids, students, local stakeholders, industrial professionals and associations members regarding sustainable development with the aim of altering society's attitudes to preserve and ensure the durability of natural resources.
The Sustainable Development House, to be built over a surface area of 4,635 square meters within 18 months, will include several thematic workshops notably (renewable energy and energy efficiency, waste management, fauna-flora: biodiversity..), an area for awareness-raising, education and exhibition, a smart space (photovoltaic modules, solar-water heaters..), a botanical garden and an artificial lake.
The technological innovation House, put at the disposal of young people bearing sustainable development projects and ideas, will be managed by the Moroccan Association for Sustainable Environment (AMED).
This project, carried out as part of a partnership with the Tangiers-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region wilaya and the Agency for the Promotion and Development of Morocco's Northern Provinces (APDN), is in line with Morocco's efforts meant, for the interest of present and future generations, to weather the impact of climate change, of natural resources overuse and of pressure on ecosystems and biodiversity.
Launched ahead of the 22nd Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled in Marrakech next November, this unique project supports Morocco's choice in favor for a transition towards a green economy which combines development legitimate aspirations with the pressing needs for resources durability and reduction of environment risks.
