Signed under the auspices of the ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research represented by Driss Ouaouicha, minister delegate in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the agreement aims to consolidate the close links between the UIR and ICESCO and to support the transfer of technology and know-how to the countries of the African continent, particularly in the fight against Covid-19.
It focuses in particular on the areas of implementation of the chair "Knowledge Economy", studies and advice on behalf of ICESCO and the promotion of international partnership through student and staff internships.
This is a project involving the production of masks and accessories for breathing apparatus, explained the university in a statement, noting that "innovative solutions against Covid-19 are being developed by the UIR, drawing on its pool of innovative ideas, its intellectual property portfolio (more than 360 patents) and the infrastructure of its Tech Center, including 3D printing, laser cutting and 3D scanning.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, more than 18,000 protective visors have been manufactured by the Rabat International University, with the support of the ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research and ICESCO, and distributed free of charge to various hospitals in the Kingdom, in coordination with the local authorities.
