In a press release, AMSSNuR said that through its participation in the IAEA's 64th General Conference (held on September 21 to 25), it intends to promote African cooperation in the fields of nuclear and radiological safety and security, and to share its experiences and good practices through the Forum of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies in Africa (FNRBA), chaired by Managing Director, Khammar Mrabit.
AMSSNuR's participation in this event will be virtual due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, the statement highlighted, adding that it aims to strengthen African and international cooperation as an important strategic mechanism.
AMSSNuR, which takes part in the works of the IAEA General Conference for the 4th consecutive year, currently chairs two important networks, namely the FNRBA and the International Network for Education and Training for Emergency Preparedness and Response, iNET-EPR, a network open to all IAEA member States' organizations and entities.
Morocco was officially elected, Monday in Vienna, president of the IAEA General Conference. The Kingdom accessed for the first time, and by unanimous acclamation, to this prestigious podium in the person of the ambassador of His Majesty the King in Austria, Azzeddine Farhane.
