This agreement, which covers several areas of collaboration between the two bodies, is essentially based on the role and place of the media in the development of democratic culture and the animation of public life, as well as on the need to consolidate the expertise, efficiency and autonomy of regulatory bodies, HACA said in a press release.
The agreements provides for the creation of a joint committee in charge of legal monitoring and the development of regulatory modalities for audiovisual media, the source said, adding that the two African regulators have also agreed to strengthen the sharing of technical expertise in matters of pluralism monitoring and program monitoring tools.
HACA Morocco will make available to HACA Côte d'Ivoire the IT solution it has developed (HMS-Pluralism) and which allows in particular the monitoring of pluralism expression in the media, both during normal periods and during electoral and referendum campaigns.
During this signing ceremony, Akharbach and Bourgoin underlined the importance of consultation between the two bodies within regional and international cooperation networks of media regulators, of which they are members, in particular the Network of African Communication Regulators Bodies (RIARC) and the Francophone Network of Media Regulators (REFRAM).
