The suspects, aged between 24 and 38 years old and one of whom is the subject of a national wanted notice for violent crimes, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the preparation of an illegal emigration operation via maritime routes, the DGSN said in a statement.
They were accompanied by 33 potential illegal emigrants of Moroccan nationality, including four minors, the same source reported.
In addition, a search operation carried out on site led to the seizure of a traditional fishing boat and a car belonging to a rental company, in addition to sums of money in national and European currencies, suspected of being originated from this activity, according to the DGSN.
The main suspects have been held in custody as part of the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to determine the international links of this criminal network, while the other individuals were subjected to a judicial investigation to identify the ways and routes of illegal emigration.
