In a statement, the penitentiary indicated that this accusation is baseless, explaining that the inmate died following an argument with another prisoner, incarcerated in the same cell, causing him to faint. The establishment's staff intervened to transfer him, first, to the infirmary to receive first aid and then to the outpatient hospital, where he died.
The prison administration immediately informed the competent prosecutor's office which opened an investigation into this fatal assault, the same source said, noting that the authorities concerned began their investigations the same night.
