"The good relations between the two countries are close, deep and solid", underlined the Spanish official who was, on Wednesday, the guest of the Forum Nueva Economia, on Spain's current foreign policy.
"The level of maturity in the relations between the two countries allows us to have a frank discussion and avoid any possible misunderstanding", noted Gonzalez Laya.
"I want to highlight this solidity which marks our relations and opens the way for us to consolidate our cooperation in the economic, social, cultural, educational and investment fields", she added.
According to Gonzalez Laya, this foundation on which bilateral relations are based will be strengthened during the next High Level Meeting which will be an opportunity to move forward in bilateral cooperation.
"Spain and Morocco are two partners driven by the common desire to further strengthen their relations in all areas," concluded the Spanish minister.
Morocco is one of Spain's foreign action priorities, according to a document on the Iberian country's foreign action strategy for the period 2021/2024.
This Strategy underlines the need and the relevance of moving forward in consolidating dialogue with the countries of the Maghreb region, more particularly Morocco.
Prepared by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this document also calls for the organization of regular political consultations with the Kingdom and the holding of high-level meetings.
The Strategy emphasizes the importance of establishing "specific cooperation plans" with Morocco in areas of common interest.
