Speaking at the first ordinary session of the WFP Executive Board (Feb. 22-24), as coordinator of African countries, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN agencies in Rome, ambassador Youssef Balla, commended the readiness of African countries to share the expertise of their private sector with the WFP.
Such a partnership would be an opportunity to put to good use the African know-how and the WFP's implementation capacity, while helping to create a local development dynamic via local businesses, capable of strengthening the resilience of the most fragile local populations over the long run, said Balla.
He also spoke in favor of strengthening the risk management policy to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who need it.
Furthermore, the diplomat called for reinforcing all approaches aimed at accelerating the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 2 and 17 to eradicate hunger and poverty in the world.
