Africa Awards: MAP Managing Director Awarded in Canberra

Managing Director of the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) and President of the Atlantic Federation of African News Agencies (FAAPA), Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, received on Saturday in Canberra the "Africa Awards" Prize in the category "International Recognition" for his achievements at the head of MAP and its remarkable involvement at FAAPA as founder.

"This award is a recognition of the exceptional career of Mr. Hachimi Idrissi and his work at the Moroccan news agency and the Atlantic Federation of African news agencies," said Charles A. Koker, coordinator of "Celebration of African Australians ", which organizes the "Africa Awards", an event that celebrates the contribution of the African community in various areas of the Australian society.

Recalling the career of Hachimi Idrissi and his contribution in the Moroccan and African media, Koker noted that MAP is a leading news agency at the African level through its wide network in the continent that contributes to its influence at the international level.

In addition to Hachimi Idrissi, several Australians of African descent were awarded for their contributions in the social, economic and political areas.

The awards ceremony took place in the presence of Morocco's ambassador to  Australia, Karim Medrek, Minister for Multicultural Affairs Chris Steel, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Gita Kamath, as well as representatives of the accredited African diplomatic corps in Canberra.
