The talks also touched on the means to promote the Kingdom's sectoral health strategy, in particular in the areas of universal health coverage, health sector governance and health security.

Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised on this occasion the collaboration between the World Health Organization and the Kingdom, whose experience can serve as a model for other countries in the region.

He notably mentioned the Moroccan expertise in the management of health emergencies, such as the Ebola epidemic, stressing "the spirit of solidarity" that Morocco has displayed towards the African countries that have been affected by the Ebola epidemic through maintaining airline connections.

For his part, the minister reiterated Morocco's continued support for the WHO Director General's action, recalling in this regard the strong Moroccan support for the candidacy of the former Ethiopian Minister of Health to the post of WHO Director-General.

Morocco seeks to step up its cooperation with the organization to carry out several flagship programs, Doukkali said.

At the end of this meeting, both parties agreed to carry on contacts with a view to exploring avenues for a better collaboration on strategic priorities.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the 71st World Health Assembly.
