4th Morocco-Spain Parliamentary Forum Opens in Madrid

The 4th Morocco-Spain Parliamentary Forum kicked off, Tuesday in Madrid, with the participation of a large Moroccan delegation led by Speakers of the two Houses of Parliament, Habib el Malki and Hakim Benchemas.

The Spanish parliamentary delegation to the Forum is chaired by Speaker of the Senate (upper House), Pio Garcia-Escudero, and Congress of Deputies Speaker (lower House), Ana Pastor.

This new edition reflects the shared willingness of the Moroccan and Spanish parliaments to strengthen their cooperation, dialogue and consultation on several matters of mutual interest in the political, economic, social and cultural fields.

The forum features several debates, namely "Politics and Security", “Economic cooperation”, “Mobility and migration” and “Cultural cooperation.”

In this regard, the two parties will discuss numerous topics, notably States sovereignty, building democratic institutions, political decentralization, as well as regionalization and development.

The participants will also highlight Spain and Morocco's contribution to sustainable development within the Euro-Mediterranean area, the economic prospects of the two Kingdoms, the challenges and opportunities of migration in the Euro-Mediterranean area and the role of parliaments in promoting intercultural dialogue.
