"We rely on the positions of HM the King, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, and we are very grateful to His Majesty for the continued defense of Palestinian rights," the minister told reporters on the sidelines of the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

In this regard, he praised the initiative of the Sovereign who sent a message to US President Donald Trump following his decision on the recognition of Al Quds as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the US Embassy to the Holy City.

Morocco's call for a more substantive role by the European Union to revive the peace process in the Middle East is part of efforts made by HM the King following the US decision, he pointed out.

He recalled that the Foreign Ministers of Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates held a meeting in January to discuss the means to deal with the impact of the US decision regarding Al Quds.
