The government is mobilized and determined to implement this bold and historic initiative that extend a hand to Algeria to dispel misunderstandings and establish a framework for bilateral cooperation, said El Khalfi at a press briefing after the weekly cabinet meeting.

In his speech to the Nation on Tuesday, HM the King said that Morocco stands ready for a direct and frank dialogue with Algeria and proposed the setting up of a joint political mechanism for dialogue and consultation in order to settle the transient differences impeding the development of bilateral relations.

El Khalfi added that the building of the future of cooperation between Morocco and Algeria should be done on the basis of a shared past, marked by the struggle of the two peoples against colonialism, and the ties that unite Moroccan and Algerians families, stating that this is a choice to build a future in the service of the interests of the peoples without the intervention of a third party or an intermediary.

The UN-related issues follow their own course. This is a royal proposal laying the foundation for another concrete and operational process that expresses the willingness for a direct, frank dialogue, in good faith and without conditions or exceptions, he noted.
