Morocco will conclude a fisheries agreement with the EU only on the basis of its sovereignty over all of its territory from Tangier to Lagouira, El Khalfi told a press briefing after the weekly cabinet meeting, held Thursday in Rabat under the chairmanship of the head of government.

"If these values are violated, Morocco is in no way prepared and will not agree to conclude any agreement, or continue in any commitment, including the current fisheries agreement with the EU, outside this framework," he stressed.

The decision of the CJEU does not affect Morocco's right to conclude international conventions covering its southern provinces, he said, noting that the Kingdom, which remains committed to its partnership with the EU, will address the results of this decision on the basis of its immutable values, El Khalfi said, adding that the cabinet meeting followed a briefing by the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the decision of the Court, before opening a debate on it.

On this occasion, the head of government said that Morocco has immutable values in its external relations and in all the agreements that it signs, underlining that the EU remains a partner of Morocco, which is interested in this partnership, but it also insists on its sovereignty, territorial integrity and southern provinces.

"Morocco cannot accept and will not accept in the future any violation of its immutable values. On the basis of these values in its external relations, it remains flexible in its negotiations as well as cooperation relations and partnerships with other countries of the world," said the head of government, who expressed the Kingdom's pride in having diversified and balanced international relations.

"Morocco is faithful to its partners and will not hesitate to go ahead in defending its interests on the basis of these immutable values," concluded the government chief.
