In a meeting with speaker of the house of representatives Habib El Malki, the European official underlined that fostering the ties between Morocco and the Council of Europe will bring them closer at the legislative level, all the more so because both sides are facing similar challenges as counter-terrorism fight, fostering security and fighting human trafficking.

Quoted in a statement by the house of representatives, El Malki said that Morocco considers its partnership with Europe as strategic, recalling that the Kingdom enjoys an "advanced status" in its relations with the European Union and a status of "partner for democracy" with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

In this context, he pointed out that Morocco has made irreversible choices in favor of the consolidation of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
