Four ISIS-linked Individuals Operating in Fez, Casablanca, Kenitra and Midar Caught, Interior Ministry

As part of the ongoing efforts to identify extremists planning to carry out terrorist attacks, the Central Bureau of Judiciary Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, caught on Monday four ISIS-linked individuals aged 20-27, including an ex-convict involved in a terrorism case, who were operating in the cities of Fez, Casablanca, Kenitra and Midar (Driouch province).

A statement by the Interior Ministry said that preliminary investigations showed that the arrested members were implicated in propaganda and dissemination of ISIS ideas, in addition, they have encouraged their relatives to commit terrorist attacks in the Kingdom following the example of ISIS fighters' brutal acts in several countries worldwide.

The preliminary investigation also revealed that some suspects have ties with fighters in Syria and Iraq in order to benefit from their expertise in bomb and explosive devices manufacturing aimed at perpetrating terrorist acts targeting some sensitive locations in many Moroccan cities, the ministry added.

The same source said that this operation led to the seizure of electronic devices, a military uniform and books praising the extremist ideology.

The suspects will be brought to justice upon the completion of the probe, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, according to the statement.
