Health Ministry Activates Anti-Ebola National Plan

The health ministry activated the anti-Ebola national plan, following the virus' reappearance last month in Congo, through the setting up of a cell to regularly assess risks and monitor the epidemiological situation.

The ministry said in a statement that the epidemic have very few chances to break out in the Kingdom in the light of the current data, adding that it took, in cooperation with its partners, a series of preventive and proactive measures mainly fostering epidemiological surveillance by monitoring the situation in the DRC, systematic risk assessment, the follow-up of WHO recommendations, medical observation for flights from the DRC and the distribution of flyers to travellers from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Several measures were also taken at the Mohammed V airport, mainly setting up thermal imaging cameras and providing an ambulance, in addition to strengthening the methods of diagnosis and care for suspected infection cases by equipping the Pastor Institute Laboratory with the necessary diagnosis means as well as the reference centre for infectious diseases.
