Managing Director of Moroccan News Agency (MAP) Khalil Hachimi Idrissi held talks, on Friday in Canberra, with interim Deputy Secretary of State for the Australian Department of Communication and Arts Aaron O'Neill.

"Our meeting with the Australian Department of Communication and Arts shows the similarity of the challenges we are all facing: the fragility of economic models, the difficulty of digital migration, fake news, ethical flaws.., Hachimi Idrissi underlined at the end of this meeting, held in the presence of the Ambassador of Morocco to Australia Karim Medrek.

For his part, O'Neill said the meeting was an opportunity to review issues of common interest in the media sector in the two countries, which share the same values ​​of democracy, freedom and openness.

The Australian official, who highlighted the latest reforms initiated by his department in the field of media, said that the two countries are urged to share their experiences given the common challenges facing the press in Morocco and Australia.

During his stay in Australia, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi held a series of meetings with leaders of Australian media outlets on opportunities to conclude new partnerships.
