Led by minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Boussaid, the Moroccan delegation to the International Conference to combat terror financing stressed that this fight remains a priority for the Kingdom through the adaptation of national laws to international standards, including United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the strengthening of coordination at the national level with all stakeholders, the consolidation of international cooperation and capacity building of the relevant services.

Speaking on this occasion, Boussaid said that Morocco has undertaken several measures aimed at increasing access to basic financial services, reducing the use of cash and promoting regulated financing channels.

To this end, Morocco has adopted an approach that consists in combining, on the one hand, the financial inclusion development objectives assigned to each instrument, and on the other hand, the requirements related in particular to monitoring and controlling the risks of financing terrorism, he pointed out.

Ministers from more than 70 countries and nearly 500 experts gathered in Paris on Wednesday and Thursday for the conference on combating the financing of terror groups such as Islamic State and al-Qaeda.

The event was convened by French President Emmanuel Macron to coordinate efforts to reduce the terror threat in the long term.
