Munir El Haddadi and the Moroccan Football Federation were challenging the decision issued on 13 March 2018 by the FIFA Players’ Status Committee in which their request to have the sporting nationality of Munir El Haddadi changed from Spain to Morocco was rejected.

“Such decision is now confirmed and the request to change the sporting nationality of Munir El Haddadi from Spain to Morocco remains denied,” the CAS said Monday in a press release.

The CAS arbitration was conducted on an expedited basis in order for a decision to be issued on or before 14 May 2018, the time limit for the national football associations to communicate their first lists of players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“The CAS Panel in charge of the arbitration held a hearing in Lausanne today. After deliberating, the Panel issued its decision, without the grounds. The reasoned award with the grounds will be issued in due course,” the source added.

The 22-year-old, currently on loan at Alavés from Barcelona, represented Spain for 13 minutes in a competitive fixture against Macedonia in 2014. He has not won a cap since.
