Moroccan MINUSCA Soldier Killed in Armed Attack in Central African Republic (Military Source)

20 January 2021 Printable Version
Rabat - A soldier belonging to the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) contingent at the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) was killed Monday in an armed attack on his convoy by elements of armed groups in Bangassou, in the south of the country, a military source said Wednesday.

The MINUSCA strongly condemned the attack, in which a Gabonese blue helmet was also killed.

According to the UN Mission, the two United Nations peacekeepers were killed after their convoy was ambushed by members of the UPC and anti-Balaka armed groups in southern Central African Republic (CAR).

The Mission stressed that it "will work with the Central African authorities to ensure that the perpetrators and accomplices of these war crimes are arrested and held accountable for their acts."
