"The Constitution of the Kingdom underscores the importance of civil society as a fundamental actor in the development of the democratic construction of our country", he pointed out at a meeting with a delegation of associations, composed in particular of the president of the consultative body with civil society within the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regional council, Abdeslam Damoun, of the permanent representative in Morocco of the Konrad Adenauer foundation, Steffen Kroger, and of the president of the Mediterranean foundation for Cooperation and Development, Nacer Lafqih Lanjri.

The Lower House created, during the current legislature, the Committee on Petitions and Motions, and has taken several initiatives to consolidate communication with civil society associations, he recalled, underlining the will of the legislative institution to develop cooperation relations with civil society.

Quoted in a statement issued by the House of Representatives, El Malki stressed the House's support for the implementation of sustainable development policies, "in which our country has fully adhered", recalling in this regard the organization by Morocco of the COP22 in Marrakech in 2016 and its world leadership in the area of renewable energies.

During these talks in which the Deputy-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Meriama Boujamaa took part, the members of the delegation reviewed the distinguished experience of cooperation between elected bodies and civil society actors with the support provided by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation to the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region in achieving sustainable development goals and promoting openness and communication with citizens.

In this regard, they mentioned the creation of the "citizens' office" in several local authorities of the region.

The delegation also welcomed the openness and role of the Lower House in achieving the sustainable development goals, while pleading for the development of a legal framework to generalize this experience of the "citizen's office" in the different regions of the Kingdom, so that it serves as an interface to highlight the services provided by elected bodies to citizens.
