This position was expressed during a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad Nasser Bourita and his Russian counterpart Serguei Lavrov.

This is the third meeting between the two ministers in less than three months, which reflects the confidence and the regularity of the dialogue and consultation between Morocco and Russia.

The two officials also lauded the positive dynamic of bilateral relations which is part of the Deep Strategic Partnership, desired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Vladimir Putin, the statement said.

Bourita and Lavrov also discussed the upcoming events on the bilateral agenda, in particular Bourita's next visit to Moscow for the holding of the 8th session of the Morocco-Russia Joint Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for 2021, and the strengthening of political dialogue between the two countries, as well as the visit of Lavrov to Morocco to participate in the Arab World-Russia Forum, whose next edition will be held in the Kingdom in 2021.

The two ministers welcomed the recent renewal of the fisheries agreement between Morocco and Russia, for a period of four years.

The meeting also discussed regional and international issues of common interest.

The Russian minister expressed his appreciation for Morocco's efforts on the Libyan issue, in the light of the inter-Libyan meetings held in Bouznika.

In this regard, the two ministers underlined the need to promote the convergence of international efforts and the imperative for Libyans to take ownership of such efforts.

Bourita and Lavrov reiterated their commitment to continue working, jointly, in Africa for the stability and development of the countries of the continent, in particular those of the Sahel region, in the spirit of the Moroccan-Russian strategic partnership, the statement concluded.
