This important operation was conducted at a warehouse located in Douar Moualin El Oued (Fedalate commune) near Casablanca, where drugs seized were found carefully hidden in large blocks of marble of about ten tons each, intended for export to an African country, explained National Police in a press release.
Large sums of money in national currency were also seized, as well as two cars with fake license plates, added the press release.
Search operations led to the arrest of the main suspect and five other people suspected of being linked to this criminal network, said the same source, adding that two of the arrested were wanted by national police for their involvement in international drug trafficking.
A third suspect is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities in a case of voluntary manslaughter, noted the press release.
The suspects were placed in custody pending investigations led under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office to determine the possible ramifications and links of this criminal network, to identify the international routes of drug trafficking as well as to arrest all accomplices involved in these criminal acts, concluded the release.
