Morocco Records 7,638 New COVID-19 Cases over Past 24 Hours

Rabat - Morocco reported 7,638 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said Saturday, adding that 5,750 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the same period of time.

A total of 24,635,510 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while the number of fully vaccinated people (1st and 2nd doses) has reached 23,043,738, the ministry pointed out in its daily COVID-19 bulletin, noting that 4,111,342 people have received the third dose of the vaccine.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak of the virus rises to 1,093,978, while recoveries increase to 1,007,491, i.e. a recovery rate of 92.1%.

The new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (1,867), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (1,591), Fez-Meknes (1.140), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (915), Marrakech-Safi (672), Souss-Massa (492), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (314), the Oriental (215), Draa-Tafilalet (157), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (108), Guelmim-Oued Noun (102) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (65).

As for coronavirus-related fatalities, they rose to 15,113 (fatality rate of 1.4%), with 31 new deaths reported in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (11), Casablanca-Settat (9), Marrakech-Safi (3), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (2), Souss-Massa (2), Fez-Meknes (1), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (1) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1).

The number of active cases increased to 71,374, including 575 people in a critical or severe condition, the ministry said.
