The ministry said that it had launched various initiatives aimed at protecting a large category of vulnerable people and supporting women in difficult situations, by offering them the necessary protection.
These actions include the launch of a digital awareness-raising campaign, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as part of the Belgian cooperation program, which consists in sending SMS to overcome the psychological effects of confinement and to draw attention to the need to reinforce the values of coexistence and shared responsibility between family members, the ministry pointed out in a statement.
In order to support the most vulnerable populations, including women victims of violence, pregnant women, health professionals, midwives, detainees and migrants, the ministry has set up "Salama Kits" to enhance hygiene and stop the spread of Covid-19, in partnership with UNFPA.
These measures also include the launch of a financial support operation for initiatives undertaken by associations and networks of listening centers to support women in difficult situations during this crisis, the development of remote services and the monitoring of women victims of violence throughout the national territory, while offering them the necessary moral support in coordination with the relevant services.
The ministry called on all citizens to display a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect throughout the confinement period, to share family responsibilities and to implement the precautionary measures issued by public authorities.
