HM the King informed President Macky Sall of an initiative to bring together some friendly countries, including Senegal, to provide a united and concerted response against the COVID-19 pandemic, said a press release from the Senegalese president's office.
"The President thanked His Majesty for this happy initiative, and expressed his willingness to work for the success of the process which will soon be the subject matter of a videoconference between the Heads of State and Government of the countries concerned", said the same source.
HM King Mohammed VI had on Monday telephone talks, respectively, with Senegalese president Macky Sall and Ivorian president Alassane Dramane Ouattara on the alarming development of the Covid-19 pandemic in the African continent.
During these talks, HM the King proposed launching an initiative by African Heads of State aimed at establishing an operational framework in order to support African countries in their various phases of managing the pandemic.
According to a press release from the Royal Office, this is a "pragmatic and action-oriented initiative, allowing the sharing of experiences and good practices to face the health, economic and social impact of the pandemic".
