Over 2,600 People Arrested in the Past 24 Hours for Violation of Health Emergency Rules - Police

Rabat - Security operations carried out to ensure the implementation of health emergency rules in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic led to the arrest, over the past 24 hours, of 2,686 people, including 1,532 who were placed on custody pending the end of investigations led by the competent public prosecutor's offices, National Police said Wednesday in a statement.

As part of security operations carried out to ensure the implementation of health emergency rules, since it was imposed by public authorities, a total of 36,048 people were arrested throughout Morocco, 19,368 of whom were brought before the competent public prosecutor's offices, the source added.

These arrests were carried out in Casablanca (5,213), Rabat (4,052), Kenitra (4,128), Oujda (3,462), Marrakech (3,249), Agadir (2,840), Salé (2,425), Meknes (1,517), Beni Mellal (1,356), Fez (1,168), El Jadida (895), Tangier (851), Tetouan (839), Settat (769), Ouarzazate (738), Laayoune (560), Errachidia (522), Safi (334), Taza (297) and Al Hoceima (144).

Security services will increase control operations in all the Moroccan cities and coordinate their interventions with the various public authorities with a view to ensuring the strict implementation of the health emergency rules, the source pointed out.
