El Youssoufi, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 96, maintained close relations with the leaders of the Palestinian revolution and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). He was one of the most ardent defenders of the Palestinian cause, which figured prominently in his militant action at home and abroad, the agency says.
It adds that the Kingdom of Morocco has lost a great activist who, in addition to his activism on the Moroccan political scene, was one of the eminent defenders of liberation movements and just causes of peoples.
The alternation government led by the late Abderrahmane El Youssoufi marked the beginning of a new era in Morocco's political and democratic life and the promotion of reconciliation and national partnership, Wafa agency notes.
Despite his retirement from politics 16 years ago, the late El Youssoufi has always occupied a prominent place on the Moroccan political scene and was considered a name that advocates unity, an eminent defender of human rights at the national and international levels and a politician who contributed to the institution of the era of democratic transition in Morocco, Wafa stresses.
