The National police services carried out on Friday simultaneous interventions in 10 warehouses and alcoholic beverage shops in Had Soualem, Casablanca, Khouribga, Oued Zem and Béni Mellal, said the National Police (DGSN) in a press release, noting that these interventions resulted in the seizure of approximately 1,000,000 bottles of contraband alcoholic beverages, 203,016 tax stamps, which employees stuck on certain seized goods, as well as a sum of money estimated at 923 million cents.
According to the first observations carried out by the officers of the judicial police, quantities of the seized alcoholic beverages have expired, while the rest are of foreign origin not bearing tax stamps proving their regular status vis-à-vis Customs, added the same source.
A preliminary investigation was carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecutors and in coordination with the administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes and the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA), as to the legality of possessing these alcoholic beverages and their harmlessness, it added.
