Speaking at the 2nd workshop on Intermediate Cities organized under the theme: "the role and place of intermediate cities in post-COVID", Bouchareb noted that intermediate cities are redeployment spaces and an alternative in the event of crises, stressing that the intermediate city of tomorrow should be "an engine of economic growth, creativity, innovation and attraction".
"These cities must be conceived as an expression of diversity and cohesion, housing a resilient and inclusive economy," said the government official, highlighting the growing capacity of intermediate cities to develop organizational know-how.
In this regard, Bouchareb highlighted the national strategy for intermediate cities that the ministry intends to implement as part of a co-construction approach with the various stakeholders.
This strategy, she added, will be based on strengthening the resilience of the urban network, supporting territorial equity and territorial development, setting up a mode of governance and identifying financing and support mechanisms.
