The Country Brand Awards assess the capacity of countries to promote tourism, attract talent and boost exports and foreign investment as well as to manage the pandemic caused by COVID-19. They independently evaluate three categories: "Doing Tourism", "Doing Business" and the "Overall Category".
In the "Doing Tourism" category, Morocco ranked second in Africa after Kenya and Egypt.
Also in Africa, Morocco and South Africa share the top position in the "Doing Business" category ahead of Kenya and Senegal.
A jury of experts, chaired by expert Didier Lagae, author of the book "Country Brand, a Branded Country," carried out a strict selection process to choose winners among 40 shortlisted countries.
The jury included communication professionals and diplomats, such as Fathallah Sijilmassi, former Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). The selection process recognized the success of the prize-winning countries in promoting their country brand, both at the continental level (Africa, Europe, Americas and Asia-Middle East and Oceania) and globally.
