The DGAPR said, Friday in a press release, that the visit would be authorized only once during this period for the benefit of two visitors, family members of the prisoners who are authorized to visit them, noting that this exceptional resumption also concerns children, provided they are accompanied by an adult from the detainee's family, who is authorized to visit.
This decision comes following the positive development of the epidemiological situation at the level of all the regions of the Kingdom, said the same source, adding that the penitentiaries have only recorded, during the last four months, few isolated cases of infection among new prisoners, the majority of whom have been subjected to the treatment protocol at external hospitals which are not admitting now any case of contamination among prisoners.
The DGAPR also underlined that this decision was taken to preserve the family and social links of prisoners, in particular with the advent of the month of Ramadan, given its spiritual and human dimensions.
To ensure the success of this operation, all prisoners will be allowed to contact their families to inform them of the dates set for visits, noting that some will be scheduled during school holidays and on Saturdays and Sundays so that inmates benefit from the visit of their children separately from the rest of the categories of visitors, within the limits of possibilities offered in each prison, the DGAPR said.
The DGAPR calls on all visitors and detainees to respect the dates set for the visit and the health and preventive measures put in place as part of the fight against the pandemic, mainly face masks, social distancing and disinfection, the press release concluded.
