"Barring any surprises, the improvement will continue next week," Merabet stressed on his LinkedIn account in a brief commentary on Covid-19's epidemiological situation titled: "Morocco moves from red to orange level."
After eight consecutive weeks of high transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (red criticality level), Morocco moves this week to the moderate level of transmission of SARS-CoV-2: orange criticality level, he noted, noting that three regions are at the green level, five at the orange level and four at the red level.
Regarding the number of deaths, Merabet said that it has decreased this week by 23% compared to last week, adding that a total number of 1,039 people admitted in serious condition was also recorded this week.
"The level of testing this week at the national level was 392 tests/100,000," he added, noting that this level "is consistent with international recommendations requiring at least 300 tests/100,000 hts/week.
Merabet also pointed out that the weekly incidence is continuously decreasing: "41/100,000 hts while it reached the peak of 181 infected persons for every 100,000 inhabitants during the week of 02-08/08/2021".
The reproduction rate of SARS-CoV-2 as of 19/09/2021 is, according to Merabet, 0.91 (+/- 0.01), while the positivity continues to decline: 10.33%, the lowest for 9 weeks.
Merabet recalled the importance of vaccination, individual and collective preventive measures and strict compliance with the national therapeutic protocol.
