The social assistance sector has taken the lion's share with 54% of the Agency's programs and projects, followed by the restoration and rehabilitation of the Moroccan Cultural Center (22%), while 9% of spending has been allocated to civil initiatives for a sustainable human development program.
Similarly, 7% of the allocated funds were dedicated to the construction sector and 4% to education, while the rest of this sum went respectively to the health sector, the Bayt Al-Maqdis Center for Research and Studies, the platform "Dalala" (marketing of local products of Al Quds) and the observatory "Arribat" (monitoring programs and determining priorities).
"With the restrictions of the pandemic (Covid-19) and its effects on the population and institutions in Al Quds, the balance of spending on programs and projects of the Agency until the end of the year 2021 was at an acceptable level," noted the annual report.
The document stressed that, on the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in His capacity as Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, the Agency has given priority to the human development sector, cited in the Royal Message addressed last November to the Chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
In terms of structural projects during the year 2021, the Agency has continued the program of scholarships for the benefit of young people in the Holy City, which benefited 31 students enrolled in the specialties of medicine, literature and law, both in Palestinian and Moroccan universities.
In addition, the Agency has awarded prizes for excellence to 45 students from schools in Al Quds under the Directorate of Education and Teaching and Al Quds University for the academic year 2020-2021.
Regarding the protection of the environment, the Agency has launched the project "environmental clubs" and this, through a pilot project at the Hassan II school in Wad Al Jouz, in addition to an awareness campaign in this area.
The construction and restoration sector continued to benefit from the commitments of the Agency, which launched the first phase of the emergency construction program in the city of Al Quds in order to support the resistance of the people of the Holy City on their land.
In addition, in order to mitigate the effects of the events that the city of Al Quds experienced in the month of Ramadan 1442, the Agency acquired the necessary supplies and materials as well as essential medicines for the hospitals in the city.
The Agency stressed in its report that despite the limited funds, it has implemented vital projects that have a direct and tangible impact on the lives of the inhabitants, the protection of the city and the preservation of its religious heritage.
