One hundred inmates, men and women, from 21 penitentiary establishments are involved in this operation launched on May 5, with a production capacity of 20,000 masks per day, according to a statement by the DGAPR, adding that this capacity will be reinforced soon.
The production operation is carried out in accordance with the health standards adopted at national level, and in compliance with the conditions required by the supervisory departments, added the DGAPR, which ensures that all stages of the project have been subject to the controls in force, resulting in a certificate of compliance with national standards, both in terms of the raw materials used and in terms of production conditions.
The DGAPR explained that this operation has two main objectives; to qualify detainees for better integration into society by strengthening their spirit of citizenship and instilling in them the values of responsibility, solidarity, cooperation and contribution to the efforts made by the various components of Moroccan society, including government departments and civil society, to combat the spread of this epidemic.
The second objective is a social one, the delegation said. It enables detainees to manage the duration of their detention during the period of confinement by means of an incentive approach consisting in offering them employment in return for encouraging material remuneration, which will be paid into their respective personal accounts opened in the prisons in accordance with the procedures in force in that regard.
The operation is being carried out in coordination and with the support of the ministry of the Interior and the ministry of Industry, Trade and the Green and Digital Economy, two of the DGAPR's strategic partners in this project, the same source concluded.
