This brings to 16,097 the number of contaminations since the first case was reported in the Kingdom in March, and to 13,442 the number of people fully recovered, i.e. a recovery rate of 83.5%, said head of the department of epidemic diseases at the Directorate of Epidemiology under the ministry of Health, Hind Ezzine.
The number of fatalities rises to 257, with two new deaths in the last 24 hours, i.e. a case-fatality rate of 1.6%, she added.
With regard to the geographical distribution of new cases, 28 contaminations were recorded in the Marrakech-Safi region (20 in El Haouz, 5 in Marrakech and 3 in Safi), 3 cases in the Fez-Meknes region (2 in Fez and 1 in Meknes), 75 in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (66 in Tangier, 3 in Fahs Anjra and 6 in Tetouan), 3 cases in the Eastern region (2 in Oujda and 1 in Jerada), 13 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (3 in Kénitra, 3 in Sidi Kacem, 3 in Salé, 2 in Rabat, 1 in Khémisset and 1 in Témara), 37 cases in the Casablanca-Settat region (31 in Casablanca, 05 in Mohammedia and 1 in Nouacer), 1 case in Drâa-Tafilalet (in Errachidia), 1 case in Guelmim-Oued Noun (in TanTan), while the other regions reported no new cases.
According to Ezzine, the number of contact persons followed up since the beginning of the emergency now totals 88,819, of whom 15,211 are still under medical follow-up, while the number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounts to 899,043.
Concerning active cases, she noted that 2,398 persons are currently under treatment, including 31 in critical situation, 10 in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, 2 cases in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, 07 cases in Marrakech-Safi, 4 cases in the Fez-Meknès region, 7 in Casablanca-Settat and one critical case in the Béni-Mellal-Khénifra region.
The ministry of Health urged citizens to observe preventive measures, including the correct wearing of protective masks, regular hand washing, respect for physical distance and the use of the "wiqaytna" application and regular activation of Bluetooth to reinforce and ensure the tracing of contact persons.
