This brings to 20,278 the number of contaminations since the first case was reported in the Kingdom on March 2, and to 16,438 the number of fully recovered people, i.e. a recovery rate of 81%, said coordinator of the national Center for emergency public health Operations at the ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.
The number of fatalities rises to 313, with eight new deaths (4 in Tangier, 2 in Marrakech, 1 in Casablanca and 1 case in Sidi Kacem) in the last 24 hours, he added.
The cumulative incidence rate stands at about 56/100,000 people, he said, noting that in the last 24 hours, 1.7 out of every 100,000 people have been infected.
He said that 554 of the new cases were detected through the contact tracking system, i.e. a rate of 87.5%.
As for the geographical distribution of new cases, Mrabet said that 137 cases were registered in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (119 in Tangier, 4 in Tetouan, 2 in Mdiq-Fnideq, 3 in Fahs Anjra, 4 in Al Hoceima and 5 in Larache), 222 in the Casablanca-Settat region (168 in Berrchid, 48 in Casablanca, 4 in Benslimane and 2 in Mohammedia) and 132 in the Fez-Meknes region (111 in Fez, 16 in Moulay Yaacoub and 5 in Sefrou).
The other regions that reported new cases are Marrakech-Safi (70), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (45), Draâ-Tafilalet (11), Souss-Massa (1), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (5) and the Eastern region, he said, adding that the regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Guelmim-Oued Noun have not recorded any new cases.
The number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounts to 20,327, for a total of 1,126,895, said Mrabet.
With regard to active cases, he noted that 3,527 people are currently under treatment, distributed among the regions of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1,366), Casablanca-Settat (929), Fez-Meknès (652), Marrakech-Safi (257), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (119), the Eastern region (71), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (44), Drâa-Tafilalet (33), Guelmim-Oued Noun (13 cases), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (15 cases), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (18 cases) and Souss-Massa (10 cases).
Concerning the people in critical condition, Mrabet reported 57 cases admitted to the intensive care and resuscitation units, including 7 intubated persons, noting that these cases are distributed among the regions of Casablanca-Settat (20, including 4 intubated persons), Marrakech-Safi (18, including 2 intubated cases), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (11, including 1 intubated case), Fez-Meknes (6) and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (2 cases).
