According to a statement from the Public Prosecutor's Office, two of the five defendants were brought before the investigating judge for alleged involvement in the constitution of a criminal association with a view to preparing and committing terrorist acts, the manufacture of explosives and the possession and use of weapons, and the attempted manufacture of explosives through chemicals and substances used in the manufacture and preparation of explosive devices.
The two defendants are also suspected of attempting to endanger the life of others with premeditation as part of a collective project aimed at undermining the general order through intimidation, terror and violence, collecting and managing sums of money with a view to using them in terrorist acts, inciting and persuading others to commit terrorist acts, apologizing for acts constituting a terrorist crime and apologizing for a terrorist organization, disobedience, holding public meetings without prior authorization, and exercising an activity in an unauthorized association.
The other individuals, the statement added, are accused of involvement in the constitution of a criminal association with a view to preparing and committing terrorist acts as part of a collective project aimed at undermining the general order through intimidation, terror and violence, inciting and persuading others to commit terrorist acts, apologizing for acts constituting a terrorist crime and a terrorist organization, holding public meetings without prior authorization, and exercising an activity in an unauthorized association.
The Public Prosecutor's at the Rabat Court of Appeal specified that the investigating judge has decided to imprison the defendants after having questioned them at first instance.
These individuals were brought before the investigating judge on the basis of the results of the investigation carried out following the dismantling of the said terror cell and the seizure of equipment, substances and chemical samples that were intended to be used in terrorist operations, the statement said, noting that these substances were submitted to technical and scientific expertise.
