This large-scale security operation was carried out in the rural area of "Ouled Mlik", 12 km from the city of Kenitra, and led to the arrest of the first suspect aboard a commercial vehicle, the national police (DGSN) said in a statement.
Search operations carried out in the vehicle have led to the seizure of 2,010 kilograms of chira, packaged in 67 bundles. The police then questioned the second suspect who was escorting the first suspect in another vehicle, the statement added.
The investigations carried out in this case have led to the arrest of two other individuals, allegedly linked to this criminal network. The latter were in possession of a shotgun and 11 cartridges, according to the same source.
The database of national security showed that a wanted notice at the national level was issued against the suspects for their alleged involvement in a case of international trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances.
The four suspects were placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor to determine the other possible ramifications of this criminal activity and identify all criminal acts attributed to the persons concerned, the DGSN concluded.
