In 2023, the rise in imports should be limited to 0.3%, due mainly to a 7.8% increase in consumer goods exports and a 9.2% drop in the energy bill to 111.2 billion dirhams.

In parallel with the reopening of borders, travel receipts should improve although they will remain lower than before the crisis, rising from 34.3 billion dirhams in 2021 to 54.3 billion dirhams in 2022, and 70.9 billion dirhams in 2023.

As for money transfers from Moroccans living abroad, they would decline by 6.8% to 87.3 billion dirhams in 2022 and by 3.8% to 84 billion dirhams in 2023.

  • Culture : Moroccan Pianist Marouan Benabdallah Gives Brilliant Concert in Rome

During this event, organized by Morocco's Embassy to Italy, the young pianist seduced the audience with a brilliant interpretation of the most beautiful compositions of well-known Arab musicians, showing a remarkable mastery of his instrument.

This musical ceremony, which is part of a "strong and ambitious" partnership with the Med-Or Foundation and Luiss University, commemorates World Music Day, celebrated on June 21. It also marks the resumption of the cultural activities of the embassy after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19, according to Morocco's ambassador to Rome, Youssef Balla.

"Our virtuoso pianist has so far been able to list more than 100 composers of classical music in different Arab countries, who compose in western style and use the rhythms and melodies of the East," said the diplomat.

"The diversity of artistic expression in the Kingdom, a melting pot of diverse cultures and crossroads of civilizations, reflects its plurality," Balla added.

Through this recital, the audience, including several diplomatic and cultural figures, discovered a unique repertoire, weaving links between Arab and Western musical traditions, carrying fundamental art values such as harmony and peace.

Born in Rabat, Marouan Benabdellah, who started playing the piano at the age of 4 with his mother, left Morocco at 13 to pursue his musical studies in Hungary at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and then at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.

  • Culture : St. Peter's Cathedral in Rabat Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Impressive Mapping Show

This video show with sound effects was projected on an architectural installation in the form of an inverted candle, giving visitors visual experiences derived from representations of fire such as flames, ashes, smoke, heat or even lights.

For this show, the French Institute of Morocco has called in a young Moroccan collective composed of Zineb Sekkat, an architect known as Linez for its mapping projects, and the Method Agency in Architecture, represented by architects Youssef Chajai and Mouad Laalou.

The idea of featuring this show inside the church is to encourage people to discover this place, Laalou said in a statement to MAP.

Approached by MAP, the head of the cathedral of Rabat, Father Daniel Nourissat expressed his joy to see this show being celebrated inside the church to encourage people to enter and watch this candle and this light which symbolize the love of God in our hearts.

For her part, director-general of the French Institute of Morocco, Clelia Chevrier Kolačko noted that this mapping was created by three architects, two of whom are winners of the digital lab, which the French Institute has been carrying for two years now.

The French ambassador to Morocco, Hélène Le Gal, emphasized the symbolism of being in a cathedral in Morocco. "This openness to all religions, this is what makes it special and I find it very beautiful," she said.

Inaugurated on November 17, 1921, the St. Peter Cathedral is undeniably part of the cultural and historical heritage of the capital. It is the work of the architect Adrien Laforgue, who also built the Post Office, the Rabat-Ville train station and the former Palace of Justice (now Parliament).

  • Politics : Morocco's Experience in Combating Terrorism and Extremism Highlighted in Tunis

During this conference held under the theme "Combating terrorism and violent extremism: Towards a coordinated approach on human rights in the southern Mediterranean region", Ashraf El Malki, a magistrate at the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Kingdom, emphasized the importance of the reconciliation program within the framework of the national strategy to combat terrorism, extremism and reintegration, and the programs of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners.

He explained that the reconciliation program is part of the efforts of the General Delegation of Prison Administration and Rehabilitation (DGAPR) to create appropriate conditions for the rehabilitation of inmates convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism.

This is a scientific approach that complements the multidimensional efforts made in the field of combating terrorism and extremism in the framework of proactive security, spiritual immunization and the fight against vulnerability, he said.

Developed and implemented by the DGAPR based on its resources in partnership with the Rabita Mohammadia of Ulemas, this program is based on three axes related to reconciliation with oneself, with the religious text and with society, said El Malki.

He noted that this program draws its philosophy from the Royal High Directions calling for the promotion of the values of citizenship, tolerance and moderation, the empowerment of the various segments of Moroccan society and the reform of criminal justice in Morocco, based on citizenship, responsibility and equality of rights, duties and opportunities, in addition to the preservation of the human dignity of detained citizens.

For her part, Pilar Morales, head of the office of the Council of Europe in Tunis and Coordinator of the Neighborhood Policy with the Southern Mediterranean, called to support the foundations of regional training to address hate speech, violence and extremism to develop joint policies to combat all forms of terrorism and extremism, in partnership and cooperation with government agencies, institutions and components of civil society.

At this conference, organized in partnership with the Tunisian National Commission against Terrorism and the Independent High Authority of Audiovisual, Morales stressed the importance of adopting a system of human rights encompassing all approaches and policies to break with several phenomena such as human trafficking and violence against women and children in the face of all forms of terrorism and extremism.

For his part, the Deputy Head of the European Union Mission in Tunisia, Francisco Acosta Soto, called for intensifying efforts to prevent the scourge of terrorism and transnational organized crime and taking the necessary measures to ensure the right to life of everyone and fight against practices related to torture and ill-treatment, among others.

Speaking via video conference, the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Fionnuala Ní Aolái, spoke of the measures adopted at the international level, in partnership with international bodies and organizations, to combat the phenomenon of terrorism and formulate policies based on respect for human rights, including the protection of children in homes of tension and detention centers.

Besides supporting the regional dynamism in the fight and prevention of violent extremism, this conference (June 22-23) aims to lay the foundation for a regional training program for professionals in the fight against terrorism.

This meeting also aims to establish training programs for representatives of the Tunisian National Commission for Combating Terrorism, the High Independent Authority of Audiovisual and the organization "No Peace Without Justice", as well as for representatives of Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, and experts and representatives of the Council of Europe.

  • Politics : Spain's Position on Sahara Is 'Very Clear' and 'Sovereign' - Spanish FM

Spain considers the Moroccan autonomy initiative as "the most serious, realistic and credible basis for the resolution of the Sahara dispute."

The position of the Spanish government on the Sahara is very clear and has been confirmed by the President of the Executive, Pedro Sanchez, to HM King Mohammed VI'', said Albares, who was speaking at an event organized in the Spanish Congress of Deputies on the NATO Summit, which will be held on June 29-30 in Madrid.

Spain is a "free and sovereign" country to make its own decisions on foreign policy, said the head of Spanish diplomacy, adding that Spain "thinks by itself."

In this sense, he rejected "the meddling of third countries" in internal debates on the foreign policy of the government, ensuring that Spain advocates good relations with its neighbors "based on the same principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, and non-interference in internal affairs."

In this regard, Albares described as "false" the debate on the position of Spain regarding the Moroccan Sahara, stressing that this debate is motivated by "spurious interests."
